Challenging myself!!

I signed up for the Spartan Race this June which includes various obstacles from wall climbs, to fire jumps, to carrying heavy objects.  The obstacles are very challenging, unexpected, extreme and I truly expect this race to challenge my fitness ability and strength. However, I am up for this CHALLENGE!!!  I will do better than my best and complete it!

"You block your dreams when you allow fear to grow bigger than your faith."

"No matter how many obstacles you face,
how long the road or how far you have to go,
lose your doubts, fears, and past failures,
 and believe in yourself.
You can accomplish your goals."

Breast cancer awareness month

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.  There are a lot of walks, races and fitness events during this month to help raise awareness and money to fight breast cancer, including the Making Strides walk.  My mom was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer last year so this cause is very important to me.  Check out the Making Strides website or google another race in your area to help show your support.

Also, check out this article on five nutritional steps to prevent breast cancer:

And read this information on how to detect cancer early.  Getting tested, having regular check-ups and knowing your family history is very important!!!

It's HOT!

Eight weeks into marathon training and my body is starting to feel it.  It becomes increasingly difficult to train with the NYC summer heat but I always push through.  With the soaring temperatures in NYC and beyond, runners and athletes make sure that you stay hydrated!

The heat is on! Make sure that you stay hydrated!
